We couldn't celebrate our tenth anniversary year without these guys. They were the  original raison d'etre for Folk in the Barn - the inspirational Show of Hands - Steve Knightley and Phil Beer with their regular special guest Miranda Sykes. Its all their fault!

After a fourth sell-out show at London’s Royal Albert Hall in April 2012, concert and festival favourites Show of Hands - 2010 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards double winners - come to Revelation St Mary's, Ashford  in 2013 showing just why they have been showered with accolades.

Accompanied by striking double bass player/ vocalist Miranda Sykes, England’s finest acoustic roots act will be showcasing their new album Wake the Union, a journey through the heart of two landscapes (UK & North America) united by a common tongue and musical heritage. Their inimitable music, crossing from folk roots into blues, rock, country, trad and world, is played out on an array of instruments from slide guitar to fiddle, mandolin to South American cuatro. A whole world in one gig.

Revelation St Mary's is a new venue for Folk in the Barn, but one that we hope to use more in the future.  It is the cathedral-esque old St Mary's Church - situated in Ashford Town centre.  After a multi million £ rejuvanation it has been transformed into a stunning, modern arts centre with great facilities, whilst retaining its historical dignity and grandeur, a real wow factor space with amazing natural acoustics, we are very excited about using it, especially for Show of Hands, we are very excited about this show.

Miranda will be kicking off the show with partner Rex Preston (mandolin & vocals)

“One of the great English bands” – Peter Gabriel

“This is a band performing at its passionate peak” – The Independent

“Class always shows as it does with the new album from Show of Hands” – Daily Telegraph
