Huw Williams & Maart Allcock

Sunday 27th January 2013

The Black Robin Inn, Kingston, nr Canterbury

Doors 6pm for 6.30pm start
Tickets £11 in advance - £12 on the door

Songwriter Huw and multi-instrumentalist Maartin first met on a Fairport Convention tour bus in 1995. Huw went on to conquer the British folk scene with singing partner Tony Williams until calling it a day in 2002, since when he's been a regular BBC Radio 4 contributor.

Over a 30 year career, Maart has toured and recorded with many of the greats on the Folk and Roots scene.  Eleven years with Fairport Convention, four with Jethro Tull.  Also with The Mission, Beth Nielsen Chapman, Mike Harding, Robert Plant, Midge Ure and many more.

As a new duo, Huw and Maart deliver an evening of warmth and humour, beautiful songs, foot-tapping tunes, and anecdotes and stories that will captivate and enthral.

Maart Allcock has played for us at Folk in the Barn numerous times over the past ten years, first with the Miranda Sykes band and then with the magical Beth Nielsen Chapman and has become a good friend. We are very much looking forward to this fun evening.

This is the third in our ‘Even Cosier’winter series of early evening concerts, held at the Black Robin Inn, Kingston. You can book a meal and save 15% on the food bill if you are coming to the concert.  Pub open for meals from 5pm, doors 6pm, concert start 6.30pm.

“The musical pedigree of this pairing is such that you’ll do yourself a favour by getting out to see them”
Colin Bailey, R2 Magazine
