Joe Broughton, Paloma Trigás, Frank Moon and Tom Chapman are The Urban Folk Quartet. Four highly accomplished musicians, a dozen instruments and four voices coming together to craft a knockout show of globally–influenced, electrifying acoustic music that has been taking the European folk scene by storm.

Summer 2011 saw them embark on their biggest adventure yet - a three month rollercoaster ride of gigs across Spain, Germany, Canada, Italy and the UK. Playing everything from secluded coves to 30,000 capacity festival fields, The UFQ’s heady brew of infectious, cutting edge folk ignites audiences and has won them a devoted fan base far and wide.

Approaching the band’s third birthday, The UFQ’s UK tour this March coincides with the release of their third album. Recorded in the middle of their recent travels, “Off Beaten Tracks” is a twenty first century travelogue from a band in full flight.

“I was absolutely slain by The Urban Folk Quartet”
Emma Hartley, The Telegraph

“Up there with the best of them… amazing playing.”
Mike Harding BBC Radio 2

“A sizzling hot ensemble who fuse folk with elements of dub, house and rock with an ease that shouldn’t naturally follow that list of genres. Built on the rhythms of a cajón-wielding percussionist and oud-playing bassist, the phenomenal fiddlers led the quartet in one of the tightest line-ups I have ever seen.”
Olivia Haughton, Songlines

“From the very first time I heard Joe Broughton I knew that here was a very special talent, as a fiddle player, musician and entertainer. With The Urban Folk Quartet he has found three brilliant musicians who can take flight with him – no mean feat! If you’re into wonderful music played with great skill and passion, well, there are groups out there as good as The UFQ, but heaven knows where you’d have to go to find one better!”
Ric Sanders, Fairport Convention

“It’s music to engage ears, hearts and feet simultaneously.” - Oz Hardwick, R2 Magazine
