Dulcima and Tom - A Rare Duo Concert

Dulcima and Tom met in 2011, swiftly became great friends and inspired each other to write and perform together music they loved.  This connection soon led to the creation of hugely popular and successful, Canterbury based Indi Pop Band – Coco and the Butterfields.

From humble beginnings, busking on street corners in Canterbury they’ve gone on to perform literally thousands of gigs, developing an enviable reputation for their exhilarating sell-out live shows as their rich and unique sound has grown and matured. A career that has seen them perform alongside artists such as Bastille, the Fratellis, Scouting for Girls and Blue October, to BBC radio play and their track Old Ground landing a Hollywood movie sync!

Establishing their own record label, fashion label and music festival, to hosting and what’s more breaking, a busking world record in conjunction with famed DJ Rob da Bank and somehow, amongst all that, finding the time to self-produce their own high quality and ever ambitious music videos. Over the past two years and between a string of successful tours, the band have been working solidly in the studio, honing their recorded sound into something they at last feel is a true testament to the experiences they’ve been through together and their life changing journey as friends.

Very full plans for 2020 including launching and touring a new studio recording were dashed as were for so many musicians. This could have led to a period of silence for the band but in response to these new social restrictions, as of March 20th, Coco and the Butterfields launched CocoTV – a live streaming platform to bring their shows online and straight to your living room.

One Sunday night show recently featured Folk in the Barn’s Debs Earl (me) and during that interview I invited Dulcima and Tom to come and play for us as a rare and special duo performance at one of our spontaneous Garden Gigs.   The duo's second booking at Folk in the Barn after opening for Blair Dunlop  at the Kingston Barn a few years ago.

Come and hear your favourite Coco songs stripped back to two voices, and two acoustic instruments - guitar and violin,  and featuring the simply fabulous vocal talents of Dulcima.
